Panorama Racławicka is an enormous painting 120 meters long and 15 meters high. Various painting techniques were used in its execution, including a special type of perspective, and such special effects were added as artificial terrain, lighting, and a dark, spiral-shaped entrance passage. As a result, when viewing the Panorama we have the illusion of being in the midst of the represented events.
The Panorama was painted in late 1893 and early 1894 in Lwów (today’s Lviv) to commemorate the centenary of the Kościuszko Insurrection and the victory in the battle of Racławice on April 4th, 1794.

The churches in Świdnica and the Książ Castle are one of many sites worth visiting in Lower Silesia. The Church of Peace is a Protestant half-timber church erected in the mid-17th century, following the end of the Thirty Year’s. It was built to commemorate the end of the devastating war and religious conflicts. It is one of Europe’s biggest wood-and-clay shingled constructions. In 2001 it was listed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage. It is also worthy to see the Gothic Church of St.s Stanislav and Vaclav from the 14th century, with the highest tower in Silesia, the evangelical church of the Holy Trinity built from 1652-57 and the town hall from the beginning of the 16th century
The Książ Castle is only about an hour and a half away from Wrocław. The castle, which has over 400 rooms was built in the 13th century and later changes have only improved its splendor. The castle is surrounded by parks in which ridding is common due to the fact that the castle complex includes stables and even international tournaments take place at this venue.

Due to the fact that for centuries Kraków was the capital of Poland, the seat of kings, drawing great scholars and artists from the whole world it is reach in both historical sites and beautiful art. The renaissance Royal Castle at Wawel, the gothic St Mary's Basilica, the historical trade pavilions of the Cloth Hall, the former separate Jewish city of Kazimierz, and even the Nowa Huta district, are combined together with its socialist-realist, industrial architecture. These all places make a visit to Krakow very worthwhile. In the special atmosphere of the beautiful and mysterious streets of the Old Town and Kazimierz you will find everything you need to allow you to escape from everyday life. Galleries full of exhibitions, cafes, pubs and restaurants: all of this is an integral part of any visit to Krakow. The Old town complex together with the Wawel Hill are on UNESCO’s World Heritage List as well as is the Wieliczka salt mine.
The Wieliczka salt mine (13th c.) – located near Kraków – is one of the world’s oldest mining sites still in uninterrupted operation. The underground tourist route leads through a labyrinth of galleries and caverns with unique sculptures, all carved in rock salt. St Kinga’s Chapel at the depth of 101 meters is the most beautiful chamber decorated with white crystal salt chandeliers and bas-relief sculptures carved in grey salt. The mine hosts a sanatorium. The museum display shows mining tools and documents related to the mine’s history.
The trip to Kraków (Cracow) and Wieliczka (salt mine) will take after the conference - on September 9th, 2007.
